RIM has taken long time but finally they launched a smartphone with proper touchscreen features in the form of BlackBerry Curve 9380. Firstly RIM has introduced touchscreen feature in Bold series after that an update in Torch line and finally its time of Curve series. It is the first smartphone of Curve family that sports touchscreen features. Basically it is a new version of popular Curve 9360 with large screen & almost real keyboard has been ripped out.

The new Curve 9380 is not like traditional RIM’s mobile phones which makes it different from other BlackBerry’s smartphones. In a report, RIM is said to be working on a new parental control feature to be introduced in coming BlackBerry phone’s update. The features will give parents full control on their children’s use of various services and applications on BlackBerry smartphones.

This new parental control features will allow parents to control various setting on child’s smartphone including the browsers, text messaging and access to social networking sites. RIM recently introduced a similar content filtering feature in BlackBerry App World 3.1, which lets parents restrict the type of apps their child has access too.

Content filtering support is available to operators from RIM enables operators to perform content filtering function for BlackBerry smartphones. Without any charge RIM has offered this feature to their operators and will continue its work of enhancing it.

As per the sources HTC is upgrading the Android 2.3.5 operating system to its smartphone series. The most affordable handset HTC Wildfire S is now getting the Android 2.3.5 operating system. But it seems to be that HTC Wildfire S will miss out HTC Sense UI 3.0 taste. The reason behind this is that the hardware is too slain for handling the upgraded Sense. Lack of HTC sense is also because of its low performance processor of 1GHz.

Earlier rumour was that users are facing some bugs that are affecting unlocking features & call answering problems. However the update will also include some more issues but at the moment there is no change in list of features. The HTC Wildfire S was launched with the Android 2.2 OS, so the update will be really great for the users.  It’s confirmed that the smartphone is getting upgraded but we don’t have any timescale regarding this.

Apple is planning to release its third generation iPad in the first quarter of the next year. According to the reports sources within the supply chain for the company started to ship out the parts and components for Apple’s new tablet and they planned to launch it in the market in the next 3-4 months.

Also the OEM production of iPad two will stay at 14-15 million units around the month of December following which it will slowly drop off to 4-5 million units in Q1 of 2012 to give way for the production and release of iPad 3.

Keeping in mind the trend of device release which Apple have followed so far that it launched original iPad in April 2010, its successor, iPad 2 in March 2011.

If the timeline does have a similar pattern for iPad 3 then the chances of seeing the new tablet in the first quarter of 2012 are pretty high. That it’ll come sooner or later is what we’ll have to wait and see.
